Adorable, adorable, adorable. Total warm fuzzy fic. You'll find yourself all: You go, Jared! You go, tiger!

As part of Operation: Get Jensen Naked, Jared decides that he's going to cook everything for the picnic himself. Fried chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, the whole thing. It takes hours and by the time Jared's finished, he's covered in food, sweating profusely and cursing Jensen. He even makes chocolate fudge brownies from scratch. No, not from the box scratch, real from scratch with flour and sugar and cocoa powder and a whole lot of profanity, mixed with love.

Your ass better be worth all this work, Ackles.

The Jared Padalecki Untitled Project  by esohpe. I was reading this until 6 a.m. one morning and it was the greatest RPS of my life. I was linked to this eons ago but it sort of got shuffled to the back of my mind, and then I was doing my thing where I'm randomly rereading Evil!Sam stories and was poking through her journal and remembered that this existed so I clicked. I thought it'd be a good story as I really liked her Evil!Sam story, but I didn't expect to be like, causing myself bodily harm with the mild flailing and having to squeak into my fist. (Yes, I have physical, violent reactions to good story, but I am a tough customer and you have to *earn it*.)

I like stories with longing and desire and *yearning*, and this story just had it in crazy spades. The build-up was everything I could have asked for, and I just can't remember being quite so satisfied with an entire story in some time.

The only thing *wrong* with this story is that there's no Jared POV, which I think I would sell unimportant bits of my soul for, but that is neither here nor there. (And don't get me wrong, having it purely Jensen narrative was the right choice for the story and the reveals along the way, but now that it's done with, I'm just saying. Jared during the chair scene or the party or the initial movie selection process would be - I'll stop now.) Moving on.

Also note: Issaro also did a podcast of it, and podfic's just not really my thing but I can pretty confidently say that it'll rock. I know we were all enthralled listening to that calm, lovely voice reading WILDLY inappropriate and terrifying things that I found for her to read at Slumber Party, and if she can make that story bearable, she'll make this story even more beautiful.

In sum: this is the kind of story that can turn a girl into a tinhat. Guh.

Funny how life could circle back on a person, and you could end up horny and frustrated at the 7-11 like it was just yesterday.

With This Ring by babyofthegroup. The author calls this 'self-indulgent', and it's true, but it's *beautiful* because it embraces the theme.

A little east of normal by cccarioca. Sam and Dean work in a gay bar, and Sam gets nicely introspective.

And All the World Beneath by Jenn - SPN/SGA/Lovecraft crossover. Crazily ambitious in scope and chock-full of destruction. *pleased*

Dean remembers Texas as blackland stretching in marker-thick strips of vivid brown and black, broken with the sprawling metroplexes of Dallas and San Antonio and Houston; farms spread with the yellow tops of maize waving in pre-autumn winds, threshers moving complacently through the fields with drowsy men in hats waving at the road. He remembers green and gold fields dotted with cows, half-year calves running on the outskirts of the herds. He remembers these were what he saw between jobs, lives being lived that had nothing to do with creeping twilight and sleeping only behind salt circles and ritual wards.

And we are here as on a darkling plain by lyra_wing. So Dean has angelic powers and Sam has demonic powers, and why on earth are you still here?

any which way you can by traveller. This is a really wonderful format for a story, stylistically breathtaking, and this is--this is *neat writing*, right here. I just read this aloud to myself to see how it would sound on a phone post (answer: incredibly awesome), that's how cool this story is.

Beautiful (series) by audrarose. This is one of those stories where you kind of do that thing where you pound on your keyboard so that random letters come out, thus conveying your complete inability to cope with the hotness of something. Yes. One of those.

Binding by astolat. See above, and substitute elves for charms!

Desperately In Need Of A Hobby by trollprincess. *cackles* Sam starts to think something is seriously amiss when he realizes that Dean's on the laptop now more than he's ever been, and that's even when he counts the time Dean got hooked on Farscape and spent every waking moment downloading torrents like crazy. Really lovely story. I came, I read, I laughed hard and felt solidarity with them both.

do nothing for the dead by ladyjaida. One of the most powerful stories in the fandom, I find that everytime I come across this story, I've forgotten what it's about until a few paragraphs in and then there's that moment of slamming recognition. I think my brain is trying to protect me from that little soft 'oh' moment you have at the end and FAILS A LOT.

If he’d shot Dad, maybe Dean would be alive now and maybe he wouldn’t, but dying was the chance Dean begged him to take.

Down to the End Series by esorlehcar. This series is gripping, and pushed me over into full on obsession mode for Supernatural. It's Practical Men of the World that just blows my mind every time I read it though. Love, love, love this. When you find yourself sitting in front of a table in Microsoft Word so that you can have two columns with which to properly compare Dean and Sam's dialogue between stories, you know that that is love.

Fundamental Image: A Story in Six Sections of Unequal Length by rei_c. This was a blast to read, full of fantastic imagery and unsatiable lust and it kinda left me breathless and dry-mouthed.

Girls Rock Your Boys by mickeym. Warnings of pegging and implied incest - now those are the kind of warnings I can get on board for in this fandom.

Go Off Like a Gun by keepaofthecheez. Uh. It's Sam fucking Dean with a gun. This is the first time I have read such things. I feel a little dirty, but it's the good kind.

Here's A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares) by minervacat. Annnnd let there be Impala sex.

Imperfect Consolation by scribblinlenore. And after this story, Sam went out and kicked some major, major ass. Yes.

Lessons Learned by lyra_wing. Story links to third section, all sections linked at the top. Michael and Lucas' stories continued, and Sam and Dean training the new next generation. Good stuff.

Paper Weight by vaznetti. I've never actually read a story with a POV outside of Sam or Dean in SPN fandom. At least, not one that I'm recalling just now. Neat story:

"We need you," Henriksen says. "You can help us find him."

The table is full of bodies: stabbed, burned, strangled, ripped apart. A dizzying range of victims, scenes, crimes. None of it makes sense. "OK," Kathleen says. "I mean, yes, of course. I'll do it."

Push Me Over the Side by onelittlesleep. Sam's ambiguous; this story captures that really well.

Tabula Rasa by lyra_wing. That voice and that smile... they make Dean want to... do things. Crazy, post-traumatic-stress, end-of-the-world kinds of things. What's with this guy? Why does he make Dean feel this way?

the boy who didn't (companion piece to the boy who fell) by flipmontigirl. Obviously, make sure you read both of them -- lovely little duo that packs quite a punch.

The naked floor reminds me by musesfool, Supernatural, Sam, Dean. Wonderful series of five moments in Sam and Dean's lives and how Dean is such a good big brother it kind of makes you ache.

The Reason For Living Is To Get Ready To Stay Dead a Long Time by ethrosdemon. I love her characterizations, and this is the story that sold me on *Sam*.

Dean was always a force of nature, and Sam was just a guy. A tired, grieving guy.

The Rules Remain a Mystery by joyfulgirl41. So, Dean's a virgin and a succubus is out to exploit that. Somehow, it's believable.

The Thousand Ways to Bleed by lithium_doll. The words you would be looking for are 'awesome' and 'KABOOM'.

Things Sam has not missed about this life by cupiscent. It's the last line in the things Sam hasn't missed that kills.

This November Life by dontyouwaitup. Post ABHL. Long, thoroughly engrossing, absolutely beautiful story.

Who Here Would Choose (To Walk in Those Shoes) by philalethia - Angsty, funny and hot with a really gorgeous closing line.

Your Bridge In This Storm, by dontyouwaitup. SPN, Sam/Dean, post Crossroads Blues. This story was *amazing*. There's this section in the second part (link goes to part one) that I felt tears in my eyes, and everything about this just made me so happy and breathless and gleeful that minds in our parts work like this. There's this parallel with one of her characters to Sam and Dean, and it made me all wibbly. Her characterizations were wonderful, and it's her first story in the fandom. I'm all about encouraging her to stay and write for a REALLY LONG TIME in SPN.
